My husband and I stayed at the Westin South Coast Plaza on Saturday, October 19, 2024. We can't even describe what a great group of staff we encountered. From the Valet team to the front desk staff. Kind, polite, welcoming, courteous and just plain great customer service that most hotels can learn from. We have an exotic show car and the Valet team took extra measures to ensure it was secure and under constant monitoring. They care!!! If my husband and I can give more than 5 stars we would!

Nice hotel, beautiful design, professional service. Great housekeeping service, very helpful. Front office staff, valet parking, and doorman were professional.
Our room is roomy with a nice view
The gym area has enough equipment that looks over the pool area.
Nice lobby bar with fountain outdoor.
The location of the hotel is very convenient, right across the street from the South Coast Plaza shopping mall.
There are 2 high-end restaurants next to the hotel: Cava Spanish restaurant and Water Grill seafood restaurant

We stayed here over Labor Day weekend. I used 32,000 Marriott Bonvoy points for one night and paid $45 for self-parking. I checked in on my phone and was told to stop by the front desk for keys. We checked in around 4:30 pm and we were given a late checkout the next day of 1 pm.||We were given room 918 with a view of the park and two beds. The room was nice and had plenty of space for my family of 4 (myself, my wife, my 11 year old daughter, and my 10 year old daughter) The bathroom was a decent size as well. ||We went to an Angels game during the day and it only took about 15 minutes to get here from the stadium in Anaheim. My daughters really enjoyed the pool although it had me a bit nervous - they aren't the best swimmers and the pool has about 5 yards of shallow (3-4 feet depth) before it quickly plunges to 5 ft, 8 ft, and then 10 ft. A majority of the pool is 8ft deep or more. There must have been a diving board on the deep side once upon a time.||My wife liked the proximity to South Coast Plaza and the shops and restaurants. I'm glad we stayed here as we met up with a few families and it was nice to have a local spot to get together. We'll likely stay again in the future.

This Westin was great! Valerie really elevated our experience and was great to communicate with during pre-arrival, and just went above and beyond! check-in was smooth and the few small issues I had were resolved easily! Would stay there again.

(I am a Marriott employee however these opinions are my own and I do not work for this property)

We recently stayed at the property after a two-year absence due to our disappointment with the former management team in general and with one of the front-desk managers in July 2022.||We took the risk to stay again at the property mainly due to its great location, notably the nearby South Coast Plaza shopping malls and the Segerstrom Center for The Arts. ||We enjoyed our stay at the property. We were very happy with the new management team and their staff. Overall, they all appeared professional, courteous, and effective. We noted that the restaurant - especially the quality of the food - had been greatly improved: we had one of the best margaritas during our visit in southern California and that the housekeeping service was very good: always on time and responsive to our daily needs in a timely manner. In addition, we enjoyed the swimming pool; it seemed that there was a good team managing the pool: the temperature was perfect and the water was always clean.

Stayed here for a few days on our road trip. We always stayed here when in costa mesa because it's pet friendly. Now they charge for pets. Rooms don't smell great, dust bunnies everywhere, carpet stinks.

Beds are hard what happened to the food beds?

Room was super hot despite setting the lowest settings.room never got below 72. Called maintenance and was told told a is blowing 59.i told him wellnita been 4 hours and temp went from 75 to 74 so clearly it's either not working right, blowing hard enough or something. He said he'd adjust some setting but it didn't help.

Bathrooms desperately need exhaust fans especially with the horrible ac. I couldn't use the bathroom for like 2 hours after showering because of heat and humidity and opening the door heated the room.

Sadly our go to Costa mesa hotel will no longer be westin.

Booked the Westin hotel the day of our arrival after we went to our originally booked hotel which will remain nameless, took one look around and immediately asked for a refund as their pictures did not match the real thing. Once we arrived at the Westin South Coast Plaza we were greeted by their amazing staff. Our bags were brought up, and our LA stay began. We requested a crib for our 2-yr-old and not only did they bring the crib but also a diaper genie which was a good touch. We lounged by the pool, enjoyed our room and the good food in the restaurant downstairs and were pleasantly surprised to find a Starbucks in the hotel lobby to satisfy our coffee cravings. Great restaurants and shopping within walking distance round out a very nice stay.

Always check your bill before you leave, because once you walk out, as I did, you will find it very difficult to get it fixed.

I stayed at the hotel last week and let them email me my bill. But when I went to do my expense report, I found that on two days they charged me an extra $50 for Valet parking (in addition to the $45 self-parting fee). How their system doesn't catch such errors is problematic to begin with but things only went downhill from there.

I called the hotel several times and got no answer.

I called a corporate number and was basically told there was nothing they could do but open a case which would be responded to within 10 days (mind you, my confidence in the likelihood of a satisfactory resolution was disintegrating by the second at this point).

In a hope-against-hope last ditch effort, I called the hotel again. This time, I got through to someone, and was told that it would have to go to 'the committee' for review and that, if they approved, I would get a refund in 10 days.

Marriott: Why should I continue doing business with you if this is how you treat your customers? The first time I called I should have gotten through to a person and had a refund issued on the spot. This is absolutely unacceptable.
