Moxy DTLA Review||I researched Marriott properties on Marriott.com as well as TripAdvisor. I’ve stayed at W Hollywood and had a poor prior experience. ||My review:||Pros:||The hotel room is fairly well designed for being a small room. I would say it’s optimal for 1 person, not 2 people. The king bed is very comfortable. The shower and toilet areas are very economical. Cubby holes under the bed allow you to store your clothing. ||Cons: ||The room layout makes it difficult to store your luggage. The faucet and sink are not well designed, so it’s impossible to get your face clean based on the positioning of the faucet. ||The hotel adds a $30 Food and Beverage daily charge that isn’t listed on the Marriott site when booking the room. You must pay this fee, but you can get a credit for this amount from the Moxy Bar or Bluestone coffee shop. Make sure to use it every day. ||While I booked a room that included valet parking for $45, the hotel included a $58 valet parking charge x 4 nights, or an extra $232 in my invoice on the day of check-our. I brought it to the attention of the front desk, and they reversed the charges, but it was frustrating that I had to catch and correct this. ||Overall, I would stay here again as a single traveler (business or leisure) but not as a couple.

Location: walking distance from a lot of great areas, including the convention center.

Rooms: Very odd/non practical layout, and no mini fridge. The view was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. On higher floors, you can hear the music from the rooftop bar, can be annoying when you're trying to sleep but we liked it.

Layout: The hotel layout is very confusing, as they share walls with their sister hotel. Took us a day and a half to figure it all out.

Parking: No free parking at this hotel, but there is a large lot attached to it that you can pay 30$ a day for.

Nightlife: Very alive, very busy, maybe too busy. But lots of young people in snazzy outfits and multiple bars. Including a speakeasy bar with multiple hidden doors.

We booked a king room and received a double queen. I’m not sure if I’m happy about that or not as I didn’t get to see the size of the King room but I doubt there was much more space reading other reviews. The room is EXTREMELY SMALL and we’re using the other bed to place my makeup, luggage, hair essentials, laptop for working, etc. on because there is very limited space for ANYTHING. The sink is micro with no space to put anything. We are definitely tripping over each other. Read the reviews about the size of the rooms! They don’t lie! The desk is ridiculous. I won’t be getting much work done this trip. Very disappointed in Marriott that they would build something like this. We stay for comfort and this is definitely not comfortable. Will be staying somewhere else in the future.

Came down for a concert; although I live in LA county! Best service ever. Front desk personnel were gems! I think the lady name was Whitney and she had the best recommendations for all things DTLA! The bar tender Donte was super amazing as well. Room accommodations was A+++ ❤️ Will definitely be back sonner than later!!!

WOW - is the team at the Moxy Downtown Los Angeles the best? YES!!!! Jacob, Sal, Sonny, Christopher, Ish, Raul, Mack, William, Crystal, and Kevin were some of the very best event and banquet teams I have ever experienced. Not only was the Moxy clean, with a super cool vibe, but the team members listed made the whole experience something I won't forget. I have planned several business meeting functions, receptions, blocks of rooms and this was one of the top locations and teams I have had the pleasure of working with. The La Lo La Rooftop and Moxy Studios were fabulous locations to host meetings and a reception. The skyline was stunning too. Thank you all for the superb customer care and service. This hotel *looks* like it would be really nice to stay it but it is not. So much money was spent on the trendy facade & seemingly none was left for staff training. I have NEVER been to a hotel where so many of the front desk staff were so quick to be rude and combative with guests. This happened to myself and I watched it happen to others as well.

I didn’t get a “for certain” answer from a single staff member during my stay. “We usually” “I think” “you should be able to” “they might be able to”… no matter what I asked, I wasn’t going to get an answer.

The night staff told me the bar’s kitchen was open when it had been closed for two hours. A bartender at Golden Hour told us that you had to go down and get wrist bands to come to the pool as hotel guests which was later refuted by the front desk. We ordered pillows to the room which didn’t come. After 40 minutes we tried to cancel but there was no answer at either the room service number or the front desk. We inquired about it in the morning & were told that there were spare pillows on our floor that we could have grabbed the previous night. Would have been nice to be told that when we called.

The way that Level 8 is advertised at the front desk makes it seem as if it’s part of the hotel. It would nice during the check in process if it was explicitly stated that while you are attached to that building, they are NOT a part of the hotel & you cannot use your resort credit nor the AmEx credit there. That was not clear to us.

The room itself was TINY. If you are sharing this room with someone, just know that there is not a separated bathroom. It’s right there in the room either a sliding door for shower/toilet. The sink is in the main bedroom.

Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who cares about having a nice experience where they are staying due to the staff being poorly trained and combative. That’s a real shame because the hotel itself is trendy. Absolutely not worth dealing with your staff. I wish I’d read the other reviews before wasting my time at this establishment.

The Moxy has been a fantastic hotel to stay at during a conference at the convention center. It’s directly across the street from the venue and it has everything you need to be comfortable. ||It all started with an excellent experience at check-in with Jessy- he was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. ||The only issue some people may have would be the noise coming from the restaurants on the 8th floor late at night. I wear earplugs so it didn’t bother me but could be bothersome for light sleepers.

Location is excellent. It’s connected to an AC so the entrance is not easy to find. I actually went all the way up to the AC reception desk first. The elevators were always super full and slow. The rooms, yeah some of the smallest I’ve ever seen. Think dorm room with even less privacy. The toilet area and shower makes it impossible to have any privacy if there are 2 in the room. For ice you may need to go to another floor. Couldn’t find any of the amenities. There is no closet for clothes, they basically hang off the room walls. Bed was comfy. No refrigerator in the room. No coffee. I couldn’t find an iron board. Over priced for all of the above.
