This is my review of Ka-Pow!! I am in my first year of studies here now, so I will address how it’s been so far, for me.
I was self-taught for the most part, but felt I could benefit from some structure and feedback of a classroom setting. I was correct in my assessment. So, I am glad that I made that decision to choose to go to Ka-Pow!!.

What can I say about the instructors?

Well, they are working professionals, and bring that knowledge to the classroom. I deeply value their time and appreciate their commitment to giving of themselves to teach. I have received insight and guidance that I feel has made me grow as an artist and had changed how I think about my creative process.

I am also inspired by the community of other artist, that share and encourage. It is something that has been wonderful to experience and to engage with. I’m just as excited to see where they are going on their own artistic journeys as well as my own.

So thank you Solo and staff for all you do.

Ka-Pow Academy for Art has been a transformative experience for me, particularly in the realm of figure drawing. The instructors go above and beyond, showcasing a true passion for nurturing artistic growth. Their personalized attention ensures that each student gets the guidance necessary to enhance their skills and understanding of figure drawing.

What sets Ka-Pow apart is not just the instruction but the sense of community it fosters. Being part of a collective of aspiring artists has created an atmosphere of shared creativity and mutual support. Engaging with fellow students who are on their own artistic journeys provides a daily source of inspiration and learning. It's not just a school; it's a dynamic community where talent flourishes, and every member contributes to the collective artistic spirit.

Keraunic Tonic

This is my second year at KaPow, and like the year before, it's another term of valuable knowledge picked up in every class. The first year focused more on art principles, and so this year focuses more on the ins and outs on storytelling, as well as how it's applied to comics.

Positively, I'm being pushed out of my comfort zone, which has done a lot in helping me produce more dynamic work. We're only about halfway through this second term, and I'm excited to put together content for a pitch packet by the end!

Same as last year, the instructors are great to work with and help both myself and other students by providing insightful critiques and guidance. KaPow is the first and only school I've come across that helps nourish the future of the comic arts, and compared to other art schools I’ve looked into, you can't beat its personable environment full of peers that seek to learn more and better their craft (even the instructors!)

I could continue on, but I'll summarize by saying, Kapow is a great school that I can't recommend enough!

As a current student of the school. I can't properly express how helpful it has been to learn from the instructors here. I've been a primarily self-taught artist, and due to the instruction and guidance from the teachers, I feel a deeper understanding for what is required to not only meet standards within this profession, but a deeper understanding of core art fundamentals and principles.

In addition, the classes are relatively small, which ensures that myself and other students get focused critiques and feedback on our work. We're asked about our goals and our styles are evaluated, which the instructors use to help point us in the right direction.

After completing my first year, I'm excited to start my second! I hope that others realize how special this space is!

Cryptic Donuts

My time at Ka-Pow!! was a wonderful experience! Both Duane Perry and Douglas Klauba helped the students on individual levels as well as new lessons to better our skills as a class. I valued the one-on-one opportunities they gave to us as well as guided us in real time what it was like doing comic book work for companies.

They make it very easy for students to contact them if they have questions or need extra time with them to understand the lessons.

I highly recommend Ka-Pow!! to up-in-coming artist and artists looking to continue education in comic book illustration and storytelling!

It's been such a pleasure learning from Duane! Even when my education in comic arts was nearly finished, he still worked with me to teach valuable lessons on the business side to make sure I'm successful. This was so helpful, since I'm good at teaching myself the art skills, but not necessarily social media or networking. He is a dedicated teacher who shares his personal and professional experiences with the students, and will be happy to talk one-on-one about any concerns you may have.

Duane takes great care that everyone working with him, from students to teachers to guests, are committed and reliable. I never have to worry if I’m getting my money’s worth from this school. If you are serious and committed too, Ka-Pow will work with you towards your goals. I’ve had amazing opportunities to talk to real professionals in the comic field, learning how to get a job in this industry, even though my art style differs greatly from mainstream superhero comics.

I’d recommend Ka-Pow!! school to anyone looking for a career in comics! Whether it’s graphic novels, traditional comics, or storytelling, they’re happy to have you!

I have had nothing but positive educational experiences at Ka-Pow. As an educator myself, I have very high standards when it comes to recommending learning programs and Ka-Pow does not disappoint. I have found the faculty to be very supportive and the syllabus to be tailored, yet rigorous.
