Delicious! Great service. My coworkers and I come here from time to time after work. Apparently regularly enought that the waiter tonight came up to us and said "I know you guys and this order is probably correct, but the chef wanted me to double check that you put in for 15 orders of tempura because that's 30pcs." And we were like, yep. That's accurate! ?

I was surprise to eat all you can eat sushi in Texas. Still fish is flash frozen so why not.

The rice was acceptable and supported the fillings. The sashimi was sliced super thin but the yellow tuna and mackerel had enough oil to be tasty when thin. The unagi nigari is good when done aburi style.

There were some interesting takes on sushi where very strong flavours of spice and salt were used. It was a cultural experience that way.

I was surprised that there was no American wasabi or pickled ginger with the sushi. Also the sunamono is really a cucumber salad.

An fun experience to those wanting to try something new.

Kanau Sushi has converted to an all you can eat business model, but the quality of the sushi, the appetizers, and the drinks are still top notch. The restaurant is gorgeous and the staff is amazing. I fully recommend.

My friend and I enjoyed our lunch. She ordered from the ‘all you can eat’ menu while I ordered from the other menu. I had the chicken fried rice and crunch shrimp roll. Both were really good and filling. My friend ordered a ton of things and finished it all. She’s been a regular for years and enjoys the food a lot. I liked the ambiance as well.

This is the worst overall sushi and all you can eat place I’ve ever been to (and I’ve been to almost all of them in Houston). Not only is the food the worst I’ve eaten for sushi but the worst for an all you can eat place + service was not good and they were rude and passive aggressive. Menu is extremely small and price is just way too much for what it is ($37 for the smallest AYCE menu I’ve ever had, only 4 sparse pages, with drinks NOT included, and a few charges for sauce). You can drive 15 mins to waaayyy better AYCE sushi places that are actually worth it and way more fresh with better service. The only good thing worth noting is the decor. I thought that with very little variety, they would make the food VERY good and perfect what they do have on their menu, but I was sorely mistaken. Their pictures on their website are all inaccurate. Food presentation was sloppy.

All the food came out lukewarm and bland. They don’t even have masago anymore so their menu is outdated. Nothing really tastes fresh. Left the place feeling extremely nauseous.

Saw someone in the kitchen yawn and cough on their hands and didn’t wash their hands so kind of unsanitary too (reply to the response - no I did not see the person wear gloves)

All in all, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in awhile. I was super excited to have a AYCE sushi place in the inner city but was thoroughly disappointed.

Calamari - bland and stringy, crunch was okay but flavorless
Any beef dish - super dry, rubbery (they tried telling me and my friends that the beef is supposed to be dry like that at all restaurants and we were baffled)
Spicy edamame - very bland, no flavor
Carpaccio - bland, just sour and a little spicy, very inaccurate pictures on their website
Maki - super basic and they load it up with tons of rice
Sashimi - just okay at best, not very fresh
Takoyaki - the only semi good thing here but the octopus inside was so brittle it wasn’t even chewy in some pieces
Eel nigiri - cold but good Smokey flavor, lots of rice though
Pork katsu - a normal katsu
Miso soup - feels like you’re drinking straight from the sea because it was extremely salty

Overall, I an not sure if I'd be coming back. The appetizers, (edemame, fried calamari, chicken tempura, miso soup, & crab Salad) we really enjoyed the edemame while the others were mediocre. The one we did not like was the crab Salad because it had very little crab on it and the quality was mid. The shaggy dog roll was okay.
The tables for 2 are compact so order slowly so you don't fill the table quickly.
For an all you can eat buffet, the portions are small so you would get to try multiple dishes and to order, it will be done entirely online with the QR code provided on the table.
Service is bare minimum but workers are nice. My server has a very low voice and couldn't hear him.

The ambiance at this place is absolutely delightful, and the culinary experience matches up perfectly! What sets it apart is the thoughtful approach to their menu – nothing is overly fried or drowned in heavy sauces, allowing the natural flavors to shine through. The efficiency of their service is truly commendable; ordering through your phone ensures a seamless dining experience. It's impressive how swiftly your selections materialize at your table, making the entire process effortlessly enjoyable.

Now, let's talk about the bar experience, where the magic happens. The bartender deserves a special mention; their expertise truly elevated the evening. The whisky sour crafted by the bartender was nothing short of perfection – a testament to their skill and dedication to mixology. It's not just a drink; it's a masterpiece.

In summary, this establishment is a gem with a fantastic atmosphere, delectable cuisine, and an exceptional bar staff. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.

This was my first time here because I saw they had a “Premium” AYCE. The Takoyaki was great and the wagyu gunken was my favorite item that we tried. All of the nigiri pieces were on the smaller side but not a big deal since it’s AYCE.

All of the food was good, better than other AYCE sushi spots I’ve tried. Spicy salmon roll was probably our favorite of the rolls.

With that being said I think they were under staffed when we went on a saturday night. It took almost 40 minutes before we got our first sushi order in. The cooked items like skewers and Takoyaki came out at a decent rate but the nigiris took forever. This is concerning with a 90 minute time limit but the bartender assured us on these occasions they wouldn’t hold us to that time limit due to how busy it was.

My only other issue besides how long it takes to get food was that my coconut shrimp came out raw. The outside was cooked perfectly but when I bit into it, the shrimp was cold and Raw. Told the server and he took it away but no apologies or replacement pieces at all.

There’s great potential for this place to be a top at AYCE sushi in Houston but they need to staff up, maybe just the weekends when it’s this slow on service. I’ll try it again on a weekday.
