We had an issue with our assigned room during the evening, and were quickly offered a different room right away. During the switch an item was left behind and the housekeeper gave it back to us the next morning.

The owner, Sheldon, was not happy to hear about the issue and took the room out of service until it is fixed. He seems quite committed to ensuring Hotel La Fonda is both sustainably run while providing a good experience for guests. Additionally, he’s knowledgeable about the provenance of the famous DH Lawrence paintings that were once stored at the hotel.

Great location, great building, and good customer service.

An older building with nice shops. Room was decent, but small. Heat/cooling was noisy. Overall, the room was okay. No breakfast available.

Quaint, small, quiet, only hotel on the plaza, lots to see and walk to. Excellent coffee shop in the lobby. Many margarita choices close by. Safe parking with our bikes left locked on the car. Exactly what we wanted for a road trip stop. Taos is quiet this time of year and lots of construction etc as they prepare for their ski season later this year. The hotel is nothing fancy but the perfect Taos feel. If you like the hotel, you’ll like Taos. If you like Taos, you’ll like the hotel.

Perfect location for visiting Taos, right in the town plaza with lots of shopping and restaurants. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Very easy check in process. Room was very small but clean. Price wise, this was surprisingly one of the most affordable options in Taos (I booked same day on Expedia).

Advice for staying here: pull up front to loading zone, then when done park around back in their lot. They charge $10 per day for parking. I would suggest to bring clothes pins or chip clips to keep the curtains closed if you want to sleep in. Leave the bathroom fan on, or bring a white noise device or wear earplugs as the walls are very thin and you can hear others easily. They don’t offer breakfast, but there is a coffee shop in the lobby that opens at 7am with good coffee and bakery items.

Right in the square. Very neat hotel. There are areas where you can chill with a livingroom type setting, and there are games and puzzles and books you can borrow. Super neat place.

The main street to Taos is under construction, so that kind of ruined the vibe of the plaza, but there was an abundance of parking.
The hotel was nice and quiet. We didn't see any ghosts.

Loved staying here. When we got here we immediately wished we were staying for more than one night. I loved how clean it was, and that’s a big struggle for me when traveling. The room was very charming. There was even a little artist fair happening that afternoon! I had pleasant experience with all the staff I talked to, especially Omar who checked us in.

Quaint hotel. Pros - live music and lots of local vendors on Thursday, comfortable bed, great food in the restaurant. Cons - limited parking, spider in the tub, hair left on the room chair,"do it yourself " heating - machines in the closet area, clothes hangers were awkward, and there were 4 remotes with out instructions.
