In August my partner, daughter and granddaughter spent five day s at Devils Thumb Ranch and Resort. Previously, my partner and I had shared a cabin which was very comfortable with just a touch of rustic. We enjoyed the stars at night as there was little light pollution and there were excellent hiking trails outside our door. On our recent trip we road horseback up a mountain as we had done in the past. It was a fantastic ride both times and the food we ate while we rested was quite good. This time we enjoyed their zip line as well and we drove to Rocky Mountain National Park for hiking and sightseeing. Our rooms were very comfortable and well furnished. We usually ate outdoors for lunch and dinner. Meals were superb and their main restaurant was a wonderful gourmet experience. My neighbor also finds the restaurant superb. The staff is warm and welcoming. The surroundings are breathtaking. Highly recommended.

First off I will share the positive of my experience. The activities on site were awesome and the staff was friendly. The rooms were very rustic and had a beautiful view. Negatives- housekeeping wasn’t thorough as we would’ve liked as there were still dust and trash even after they cleaned. The biggest disappointment was at the restaurant. The food was delicious but the service left a bad taste in our mouths. The ranch house restaurant was the exception but at Tavern every meal was a debacle. We had to wait 30 minutes to place an order, Or the order came out wrong, or Our entrées came out way before our appetizer. The staff never really checked on us or if the food came out the way we liked. For those prices we should’ve got better service and not waitstaff who were running around like headless p If the resort can work on their housekeeping and the service at the restaurant I would consider returning. For now I will look at other options for my next trip to Colorado.

Couldn't be happier with our stay. Went during the summer and it was peaceful and relaxing. I imagine it gets busy during ski season. Absolutely picturesque and plenty of stuff to do. I by no means live a fancy lifestyle so this was the nicest retreat I've ever been to. Definitely the place to go if you want to impress someone. I will certainly recommend it to friends and family.

We loved our weekend getaway at Devils Thumb! The rooms were elevated with comfortable beds. Housekeeping was fantastic and had our room ready for relaxing after a day out on the ranch. We loved seeing sights during our horseback riding tour and zip lining. The guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and laid back. We enjoyed watching horses graze in the fields while drinking a cocktail by the pool. At the Ranch House Restaurant, we had a great view of the mountains and property while savoring the Wagyu beef and wine menu!

We had a great time getting away in the beautiful, secluded mountains as a couple. The accommodations were perfect! We had great food and wine. We went on a great hike. We relaxed in the pools. We will definitely be back! The views were incredible! The staff was friendly and gave great service.

Our stay: 8/31/2024-9/3/2024||Devil's Thumb Ranch may have once been a great place to stay, but that is no longer the case. To summarize our stay: disappointing and not worth the price. The service and upkeep of the facilities was lacking, you are paying for five stars and receiving three stars.||The indications this stay was going to be a letdown started immediately after booking. We called to get additional information from the hotel about events occurring over the Labor Day weekend, we were not able to get any information beyond the limited information posted on their website. The cabin we stayed in was worn and in disrepair, the furnishings seemed cheap and the layout was not very functional, it hadn’t been cleaned properly, and occasionally we would run out hot water during our showers. The grounds had overgrown and muddy paths, and there was no good way to travel between the cabins and lodge except to drive – seems like a missed opportunity to really highlight the property. Dinner at the Ranch House had inexperienced staff that resulted in poor, slow service, and average food. Breakfast at Heck’s was terrible service and average food. We didn’t eat any more meals onsite. The concierge was not helpful, which should not have been surprising given our inquiry just after booking. The firepit for making s’mores was always crowded, and one evening they ran out of s’mores kits and didn’t seem very motivated to resupply. The lawn games were scattered, worn, broken and in general disrepair. The game room was worn, broken and in general disrepair. The pool water was cold and full of bugs floating on the surface. In general, there is no attention to detail and a general lack of care for the guest experience.||There were good things, of course, but that was not the memorable thing about our overall experience. The beds were comfortable, the bedding was decent, good views from the Ranch House, and great views from Heck’s patio and the pool.||Our recommendation, find a different place to stay. If you ignore this and stay anyway, request a cabin along the ridge, you’ll have better views there than from the ones on the other side of the street.

This property is one of the most stunning locations in all of Colorado and truly resembles a modern and elevated Wild West! The staff is kind and professional but more training could be had for new employees. While I would rate our experience a 9.5 given the professionalism, kindness, cleanliness and first class amenities, we had experiences that spoke to staff not being fully trained. By way of example, we were sent to the wrong location/building for yoga, rerouting us for 15 minutes with little assistance. We were told at check-in no floor fans were available for white noise, and yet they were available. While these are minor inconveniences, given the esteemed nature of DTR, more training would be beneficial to new employees ... either that or admit to not knowing an answer and getting the answer.

Had a great time at a recent stay with the folks at DTR. The beautiful mountain setting and the wonderful activities on offer really encouraged you to get outside and soak up the surroundings on this unique property. Our favorite by far was the fly fishing and the dedication of our guide to patiently explain the tools, techniques and tips to have a truly successful day on the river which, by the way, was only footsteps from the main lodge. The accomodations were luxurious and comfortable and every little detail was taken care of including a plush robe and sandals in case you forgot to bring them! The meals at the two on-site resaurants were amazing with a variety of mouth-watering offerings including the famed Wagu beef - a rare find. While the mains were delectable, even the sides were perfectly prepared, the vegatables fresh and tenderly cooked. These experiences were only rivaled by the Ranch staff who were all so unfailingly generous with their time and service in making sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be returning for a visit at the Ranch!
